The Audi e-tron FE04 was a feat of technological and design excellence. From the innovative motor generator unit (MGU), or electric motor in simplified terms, to the high-efficiency transmission, forward-thinking engineering helped land the team the top step of the podium. And, more than that, learnings gleaned from testing and experience on the track have seen advancements in battery life, powertrains and more - and have influenced the design of components for the Audi e-tron.

An electrifying finish.

12 races on 5 continents made up the Season 4 Formula E calendar. In an unprecedented run that grew in momentum, Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi clinched the Teams’ Championship for Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler to end an electrifying, season-long campaign for the coveted title; a fitting testament to the advancements made in our electric mobility technology.

Next season's Audi e-tron FE05.

2018/19’s e-tron FE05 is going to push the capabilities of all-electric vehicles like never before. A more powerful, more efficient battery will see its range double – no more pit stops for a mid-race car swap. In addition, improvements are being made to the MGU; innovations on the track which are destined for the production e-tron.

An electrifying finish.

With technical know-how, racing talent and a solid relationship out of the cars, Daniel Abt and former champion Lucas di Grassi are arguably the most formidable pairing in Formula E.

A team that works.

Johann Abt began adapting horse-drawn coaches over 120 years ago in the southern Bavarian town of Kempten. From there, the Abt operation grew to become a leading specialist in tuning race cars for the Volkswagen Group winning the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) titles in 2002, ’04, ‘07-‘09 with the Four Rings brand and is now fully subsumed into the Audi Sport.

In 2017, motorsport legend Allan McNish was named Team Principal of Team Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler. A multiple 24 Hours of Le Mans race winner and World Sportscar Champion for Audi Sport, Allan brings a wealth of experience and charisma to the team, and aims to take it to ever greater heights in Season 5 (2018-19).

Today, together with Lucas Di Grassi and Daniel Abt, Team Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler is setting the standard in Formula E. Not just on the podium; with each race, the whole team provides valuable learnings for Audi’s entire electric mobility programme.
